Compo package exposes budget risk

Professor John Freebairn, of the Department of Economics, is mentioned in an article discussing the risks the carbon tax compensation package carries to the federal budget.
Professor Freebairn questioned the package, saying that it should have compensated all income levels, as the GST compensation package had done. He said those who were not compensated would make up their losses through other means which would pose risks of a wage price spiral. Professor Freebairn was addressing a conference held by the ANU’s Crawford School of Government.
