Melbourne first in Australia in respected US Economics and Business ranking

The US News and World Report’s Best Global Universities rankings have placed The University of Melbourne 37th in the world in the field of Economics and Business.

The rankings, widely considered within the US as a highly respected gauge of international excellence, place Melbourne as the highest ranked institution in Australia and the region within the disciplines of economics and business.

Encompassing subjects such as finance, management, organizational behaviour and marketing, the ranking is a measure of international reputation and research excellence within the field.

Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, Professor Paul Kofman, said the results reinforced the University’s reputation as an international leader within the discipline.

“Our academic staff are internationally recognized for their world-class research across the business and economics disciplines,” he said.

“It is heartening to see our institution recognised at an international level and is testament to the quality of our economics and business research, teaching and engagement.”

At an institutional level, The University of Melbourne ranked equal 32nd in the world, making it Australia’s leader and one of Asia’s top three institutions.
