Treasury 2010 Graduate Program – Applications now open

Treasury is seeking graduates with a passion for public policy and a genuine commitment to providing the highest quality advice to the Treasurer and the Australian Government.

Treasury is looking for applicants with excellent academic standing in one or more of the following areas of study:

  • Economics or Econometrics
  • Law
  • Mathematics
  • Commerce
  • Finance
  • Public Policy
  • Taxation; and related disciplines.

Employees of the Treasury are required to be Australian citizens.

The Student Ambassador Leadership Program (SALP) is the opportunity to do all that!
SALP is a 3-semester, extra-curricular program aimed at exploring and enhancing your leadership qualities and skills by volunteering with the University and wider Melbourne community. The program builds an invaluable network of support and guidance for community-minded individuals.

If you are in the 2nd or subsequent year of your undergraduate degree (final years not eligible) or you are a postgraduate student, you can apply!
Environments, Music and Vet Science students can apply in 1st year. Applications are open to local and international students.

Michigan Journal of Business: Call for Papers

Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, seeks the submission of outstanding academic literature written by undergraduates relevant to the fields of business, e.g., accounting, business law, corporate ethics, economics, finance, marketing, general management, organizational behavior, strategy, and public policy.

Global Mobility Week and Exchange Fair

If you are considering completing part of your University of Melbourne Commerce degree overseas, make sure you check out some of the many events and activities during Global Mobility Week, which runs from Monday 30 March. The Commerce Student Centre is presenting an information session where you will be able to find out about opportunities to study overseas and ask staff any questions you may have. The session will take place from 1-2pm on Monday 30th March, in Theatre C, Old Arts building. Teaching and Learning Unit: Individual Consultations for Students

Please note: From 16 February the Teaching & Learning Unit will be located at 198 Berkeley Street.

The TLU offers individual consultations to enhance your learning and help you overcome any study difficulties.
Individual consultations usually run for about half an hour. During this consultation the learning adviser will:

• Give advice on grammar, style, expression, structure or logical development of an argument, referencing, preparing for a presentation, organising your time, planning for exams and assignments, or other study-related matters.
• Comment on areas in your written assignments that need further explanation.

However, during this consultation the learning adviser will not:

• Comment on content, factual or theoretical correctness.
• Re-write your work for you.
• Proofread or edit your work for you.
• Suggest or recommend to the lecturer in the subject that you be given an extension of time for a written assessment task.
• Review take-home exams.

To make an appointment, ring the Teaching & Learning Unit on 8344 4464 or 8344 3645. You will be required to provide your name and student number. You will be sent a confirmation of your appointment via email.

Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program

The Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Program is now open for applications.

This prestigious scholarship program gives second-year students the opportunity to be recognised amongst 150 of the most accomplished students globally.

Students need to have high academic standing and be able to demonstrate leadership potential.

Each Global Leader is awarded US$3,000. Seventy five of the Global Leaders (including three Australians) will also be selected to represent the group at the Global Leadership Institute in New York City in July 2009.
