Peer Writing Tutor – Semester One

The Peer Writing Tutor has returned for Semester One!

The peer writing program gives you the opportunity to talk to another student about your writing. The tutors in the peer writing program are students who are good writers and are available to help you with the more straightforward questions that you may have about your writing.

The sorts of questions that you might ask a peer writing tutor are about:

• Citing and referencing
• Grammar
• Whether the essay flows or makes sense
• Whether your introduction and conclusion are clear

Please note that the peer writing tutor will not help you with content and will not tell you if you are correct or not. They will not re-write any of your work for you or substantially alter your writing.

April 9, 2009 in Uncategorized

Treasury’s Graduate Program – applications close 1 May!

Applications for the Commonwealth Department of Treasury’s 2010 graduate intake are currently open and will close on 1 May 2009.

Apply at http://www.graduates.treasury.gov.au/content/apply.asp

“I have found the work extremely rewarding, I feel like I learned more in the first few months here than I learned during my four years at university, although university did help me to prepare.
Working in an environment where I contribute to economic policy and the framework within which it is developed is quite exciting, challenging and rewarding.
The graduate development program was a perfect means of entry to Treasury for me because I was able to grow in the position and gain confidence in my abilities rather than competing for an open entry position with experienced candidates.”

Startup Camp

April 2, 2009 in Uncategorized

The revolutionary concept of creating a business, from concept to launch, in 48 hours. The idea originated in the States, and this is the very first Start-Up camp to be held exclusively for students.

The best part – it’s FREE!

A basic run down:
Friday, 17th April 2009: Meet your team. Create a concept.
Saturday, 18th April 2009: Design and build your web-based business.
Sunday, 19th April 2009: Pitch your Start-up to investors.

To gain a better idea of the event, please visit http://www.startup-australia.org/startupcamp

Be warned, it’s not merely an idea that you are coming up with – a complete business that is generating traffic will be created by Sunday night! In fact, Start-ups created in the last camp actually fetched up to $4,000 in the market.

It will be an incredible learning experience (professional web designers and business gurus will be on hand to guide you) and of course loads of fun, but do come prepared for intensive work (sleep negotiable). Teams will be formed based on your skills (web development, graphic design, marketing and generic business skills) so please be prepared to fill out a short questionnaire.

To take part, register on our website by 10am, Wednesday 8 April 2009.

Good luck!
