Michigan Journal of Business

FAQ:

What is the Michigan Journal of Business?
The Michigan Journal of Business is a bi-annual academic journal providing undergraduate students a platform to publish exceptional work in the business disciplines. The MJB seeks to publish distinguished theses, empirical research, and case studies related to business and economics. Please visit our website at www.michiganjb.org to learn more about the MJB.

Why Submit a Paper?
Exceptional papers written by undergraduate students for classes or independent research are often unnoticed. The MJB encourages students to pursue their intellectual passion and rewards them with the opportunity to share their knowledge with others. Our Call for Papers will span the globe and generate submissions from the most prestigious academic institutions around the world. Publication in the Journal will be beneficial for professional and academic careers, especially for those who want to pursue further education at graduate/professional schools.

What are the Requirements for Submission?

The Journal only accepts work completed during undergraduate study. You may also pose any questions regarding paper submissions to mjbquestions@umich.edu. Each manuscript submitted should include a short abstract, author information, and any acknowledgements (this information will be included in published articles). Please note that you cannot submit a paper already published or submitted for review at any other journal. By submitting, you are giving the MJB copyright and first rights to publish. What is the Standard Format for a Submission? The Journal requires Chicago stylistic and citation guidelines for its submissions, including 12-point font and double-spaced Microsoft Word documents. Please refer to the published articles on our website for format examples. Any formulas or graphics should be submitted electronically as separate high-resolution image files. If your paper is in a non-conventional format, please contact us at mjbquestions@umich.edu.

What is the Recommended Length for a Submission?
In general, all articles should be at least 10 pages, double-spaced, to be considered for publication. We do, however, accept case studies that may be shorter in length. Previous articles that we have considered varied from 10 to 80 pages. Although there is no strict upper bound for the length limit, we strongly recommend each manuscript to use space wisely with due consideration to its audience.

How Does the MJB Editorial Board Evaluate Submissions?
Papers will be evaluated based upon sound analysis, originality of argument, and novelty of research. Prospective authors are encouraged to consult previous issues of the Michigan Journal of Business, the Harvard Business Review, and the Journal of Business (University of Chicago) for examples of quality submissions.
