AIESEC Developing Leaders Day

Empowering young leaders for a sustainable future.

Monday 6 July, ground floor foyer, Spot, 198 Berkeley, 9:00am to 4pm.

AIESEC is the world’s largest student-run organisation, present in over 1100 universities and 100 countries around the globe. This international platform enables young people to explore and develop their leadership potential in order to have a positive impact in society.

AIESEC Australia, as part of its annual National Conference this July, will be holding an exciting event centred around the potential for youth leadership in creating a more sustainable future.

Developing Leaders Day (DLD)
, open to all students, will be a continuation from the first edition held in April, and will provide AIESEC members and passionate students from universities across Australia with an opportunity to come together, share ideas and learn from entrepreneurs, activists and advocates in the field of sustainability.
The event will be focusing on five different areas: Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability in innovation, Fair Trade/Sustainable communities, Sustainable Living, Economic Sustainability.

We hope that students will take inspiration from others and discover innovative ways in which they can create positive change for the future.

All international students are invited to attend the EcoCom Safety Awareness Seminar to hear a range of speakers who will highlight safety issues to be aware of when living in Melbourne and provide information about related support services.

Applications for all other institutions are due Monday, 29 June 2009

*Attention: If you are applying for the University of California as your first preference you must ensure that you are in Melbourne and able to collect the California application from the Melbourne Global Mobility office at least three weeks after the due dates listed above or you will not be able to apply to the University of California in time.

Hurry – Applications for these Case Study Competitions are closing soon.
Case study competitions are back again this year, with two new cases to choose from. In the wake of the C4 Commerce Collaborative Case Competition (held locally) come the Thammasat Undergraduate Business Challenge 2009 and the Citi International Case Competition 2009 which will be held in Thailand and Hong Kong respectively.

Thammasat Undergraduate Business Challenge 2009, Thailand
Tuesday 18 August 2009 to Saturday 22 August 2009*

To quote from the Thammasat website, the Thammasat Undergraduate Business Challenge (TUBC) is a case competition for undergraduates from international business schools hosted by the BBA International Program of Thammasat University. It is a four-day event that will conclude with presentations by teams that achieve the final round. Participating teams will be given forty uninterrupted hours to analyse and prepare a solution for an international business case. Each team is required to present their case solutions and answer questions from a panel of honourable judges’.

Citi International Case Competition 2009, Hong Kong

With the continuous generous support of Citi, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s School of Business and Management (HKUST Business School) will be hosting the “Citi International Case Competition” (CICC) 2009 at its campus in Hong Kong. University of Melbourne has had the distinct pleasure of being invited to CICC 2009.
Similar to CICC 2008, the case will be an interdisciplinary business problem and each team, consisting of 4 team members, will have a limited time to develop a solution to the case and present it to a panel of industry and academic professionals. Apart from competing in an intense real world situation, students will have the opportunity to socialize and visit attractions in Hong Kong.
