Future Shots Sustainability Film Challenge

Future Shots invites all young Victorians to create a short film (of no more than three minutes!) that answers the question Sustainability: What’s it all about? The challenge encourages young people to explore what sustainability means to them on a personal level and to the world around them.


Deadline for entering is 6 November 2009.

Major prizes, valued at over $8000, will be awarded to the best short films over 7 award categories chosen by a judging panel of film and environmental industry VIPs.

Robogals Robot Dance World Record Attempt

Bring your friends and come along to join Robogals in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Robot Dance on the 29th of September at Melbourne University.


The Robot Dance will kick off at 12:00pm at South Lawn, a live DJ will provide entertainment to the excited crowds, so join us as we dance our way into the Guinness World Record Books, we need 300 people to attend in order to break the previous record but we are expecting over a thousand. The actual attempt will take place at 1:00pm. This is an amazing opportunity to have fun and be a part of history. So don’t miss out!!! Mental Health Week @ Unimelb

For Victorian Mental Health Week (October 5th to 9th), the University is hosting a series of free events.


The Provost, Prof John Dewar will launch the University’s Mental Health Strategy at 1pm on Tuesday 6th in the Engineering Student Centre Level One Learning Space, Old Engineering Building. followed by a keynote address on “Mental Health and Meaning” by renowned psychiatrist, psychotherapist and traumatologist Dr Paul Valent.


There are two “Introduction to Mental Health” seminars on offer (Monday and Wednesday), and the week will culminate with “BBQ the Blues Away” on Friday 9th in the North Court organised by SALP. Student Entrepreneurs invite you to PITCH your business ideas for a chance to win $1000 worth of prizes!

IdeaPitch 09: Network, showcase ideas and promote business endeavours – elevator pitch style. Finalists will have the opportunity to pitch to an audience of investors, venture capitalists and the entrepreneurial community. There is $1000 worth of prizes to be won, including cash and consulting hours with innovative firms.
