Shanghai Industry Project

The Student Experience team in the Commerce Student Centre brings you another fantastic capstone opportunity! You could be spending two weeks in Shanghai, the largest centre of commerce and finance in mainland China, working on a business challenge with your peers. This industry project aims to develop Bachelor of Commerce students’ practical business competencies in an international setting and link with companies on projects that are of value to the company.

AIESEC Global Internship Info Session this week

Present Opportunities:

Environment Conservation in Indonesia

You will be:

  • Working with a local NGO and school students combining environmental conservation projects with educational programs
  • Acting as an ambassador for Australia (or your native country) presenting current environmental issues we face to school groups
  • Project manager for a conservation project

HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention in Malaysia

You will be:

  • Planning, designing & preparing HIV/AIDS related workshops with the aim of raising awareness of the HIV/AIDS issue among young Malaysians.
  • Participating in any HIV/AIDS related activities (roadshows & fundraising events) organized by the NGO.
  • Interns may also be integrated into the project management process, becoming involved in the planning and marketing aspects of advocacy.

Open to students of all faculties!

Future projects in Summer may be run in Brazil, Ukraine, Kenya and China.

Meet The Founder Interview Series: Ruslan Kogan

The next guest of the Meet The Founder Interview Series will be Ruslan Kogan, founder of Kogan Technologies one of the fastest growing internet companies in Australia.

Started in his parents’ garage, Ruslan Kogan has built a $20 Million online business selling consumer electronics. His vision is to make the latest technology affordable for all Australians. Starting as a single-person business with the goal of selling a container of LCD TV’s, Ruslan has grown his online business features a vast range of consumer electronics. Born in Belarus and educated in Melbourne, Ruslan was named in the Business Review Weekly’s Young Rich List for 2009.


The event will be held on Tuesday, 30th March, commencing at 5 pm with finger food and refreshments, followed by the interview at 6 pm.

Monique Conheady, CEO of Flexicar, provides an inspiring example of sustainability in her work as a leading social entrepreneur setting up the social enterprise Flexicar. Monique will outline her story of how she has managed to combine sustainability with a successful career in business.

Leyla Acaroglu, Director of Eco Innovators provides a compelling business case that stresses the importance of integrating sustainability through design in all aspects of business. Leyla will provide examples from her own experience in the consultancy service and small enterprise Eco Innovators. Dominique Hess will discuss her experiences of sustainability in design spanning a successful career in architecture.

If you are in the 2nd or subsequent year of your undergraduate degree (final years not eligible) or you are a postgraduate student, you can apply!
