AIESEC Photography Competition!

Attention Melbourne Uni students – enter the AISEC (International Association of Students in Economics and Business Management), ‘Images of Empowerment’ photography competition to win $50, $25, or $20 (plus a carpet!) and raise funds for Carpets for Communities.

How to enter:

1) photos (maximum 5 per person)
2) contact information (name and email address)
3) a brief explanation of how the photograph represents an image of women’s empowerment

We will upload your photos on facebook and do get your friends to ‘like’ your photos to stand a greater chance of winnning the cash!

Our Aim:
1) Raise awareness of Carpets for Communities (NGO in Cambodia) that seeks to empower families to break the cycle of poverty by providing education to children at risk of trafficking. They also help to empower their mothers to create eco-friendly, fair trade carpets that sell globally.

2) Raise $500 to provide a scholarship for Tout Kimchhean, one of the children in the Carpets program and enable him to attend university in Phnom Penh. He dreams to be the first in the family to attain a higher education and secure a better future.

We will be exhibiting all entries on Tuesday, 10th of May at the The Spot, 198 Berkeley Street, Melbourne University. More info coming s oon.

Australian Marketing Institute (AMI)

U21 Undergraduate Research Conference, Fudan University, China

The Universitas 21 Research Conference will take place from the 13th to the 18th of July in Fudan University, Shanghai, China. The conference is an annual event which has previously been held in Melbourne University, McGill University Montreal, University of Glasgow, National University of Singapore, the University of Virginia and the University of Queensland. The theme for this year’s event is “Share your Inspiration”.

The purpose of the conference is to allow undergraduate students from around the globe to showcase their research to an international audience of fellow students and academics. The conference aims to attract students from a diverse range of discipline and typically includes a range of seminars and student presentations interspersed with social activities and tours to promote networking and stimulate discussion.

Student participants must be currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program at a U21 Institution (including Melbourne), and have completed at least two years of university studies. Ideally, each student would be due to graduate in the next 12 months, and/or currently enrolled in an Honours program. Applications will be accepted from students who are due to complete Honours in June 2011. Students must have research to present orally or in a poster format.

The event is funded by Melbourne University including flights, accommodation and tuition fee.

Datamonitor360 contains 3000+ industry profiles across more than 25 industries globally.  Profiles contain market size, share and segmentation data, analysis and leading company information.  Includes 5 year market forecasts.  Newly subscribed content includes company and sector insights, case studies in finance, market trends, sustainability, energy and technology.  NB: Marketline and Business Insights are included in the Datamonitor360 interface.  Access via SuperSearch.

Tenancy agreements are legally binding documents. You do not necessarily have to have a written agreement to be covered by the tenancy law in Victoria.  Understanding your tenancy rights and duties will help you manage your housing and communicate with your landlord with more confidence.

Make an appointment via email, telephone or in person with one of our Student Housing Advisers for advice on housing and tenancy matters such as housing options, tenancy advice, moving out and share house issues.

Chris Delaney was appointed President-Asia Pacific in October 2009 – a role that oversees Campbell’s businesses in this region, including Arnott’s biscuits and Campbell’s soup in Australasia, and the company’s baked snacks, simple meal, and sauce businesses in Greater China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia. Chris joined Campbell in 2004 as Vice President-International Sales. From 2006 to 2009, he served as President-Emerging Markets, where he was responsible for building Campbell’s businesses in key markets such as Greater China and Russia.
Previously, he spent 20 years with Procter & Gamble, where he held sales and general management roles of increasing scope and responsibility in the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East. Chris spent 10 years working in the developing markets of Eastern Europe and the Middle East before repatriating back to the United States as Vice President, Market Strategy and Planning in North America.
We are delighted to have Chris share his insights into global business in the 21st Century in a Q & A facilitated by members of SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) Melbourne.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAA) are hosting an evening event for international students to find out more about getting work in Australia!

On the night, students will be invited to the ICAA premises for an exclusive evening, including an opportunity to meet with ICAA’s employer partners, former international students now working and studying to become Chartered Accountants, Institute staff and likeminded students who are all striving to be the best.
