Do you aspire to postgraduate study atOxfordUniversity?  If you have achieved an outstanding Honours Degree, enjoy success in sports, involvement in community activities, have a desire to lead and further develop your talents – then you have the qualities of a Rhodes Scholar.

Successful candidates receive assistance with their travelling expenses to theUnited Kingdomand a personal allowance, or stipend, fixed by the Rhodes Trust. The stipend for 2013/14 will be no less than £1,043 per month.  In addition, all fees are paid directly by the Trust.

Please note applicants must be due to complete an Honours degree by December 2012.

Compete in Business Icon 2012

Challenge your skills in business and leadership and win a place in the Business Icon Final 2012!

Business Icon® is a premiere business and leadership competition for motivated current university students between the ages of 18 and 25.

This year,  Business Icon with be running their 48-hour team challenge in Melbourne CBD from 3pm Monday 23rd July to 5pm Wednesday 25th July 2012.  Open to all current university students in Victoria, the 48-hour challenge will see you work in a team with students from your university to set-up and run an entrepreneurial activity in just 48-hours! It is then down to you and your team to work together, calling on your own resources, networks and peers for support. In the words of the great Steve Jobs “Half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance.”

Results from the challenge will determine whether you, as an individual, have won a place in the Business Icon final held in Melbourne from 6th to 11th September 2012 – where you’ll be competing against leading students from across Australia. EFMD Case Writing Competition Supported by ecch

The BCom cohort are invite to submit cases to the 2012 EFMD Case Writing Competition

Submission Deadline 1st October

The 2011 edition of the competition was the most successful so far with a record number of 204 submissions, and winners from INSEAD, Maastricht University, ESMT – European School of Management and Technology, Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School, China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), IMD, Said Business School, Antwerp Management School, IBS Center for Management Research, Lawrence Technological University and Indian Institute of Management. (You can access the 2011 winning cases by visiting the ecch website.)

In addition to the 14 categories already in place, this year we have introduced the “Best of the Best” category, in partnership with ecch, which was granted to the overall winners from the 14 winning cases.

All winning cases receive wide visibility across the EFMD network, publication by ecch and €2000 thanks to the generosity and continued support of our sponsors.

The “Best of the Best” winners are featured in the EFMD’s Global Focus Magazine, and are awarded with an engraved plate stating their achievement at the EFMD Annual Conference Awards Ceremony.

Deutsche Bank Penultimate Year Scholarship & Analyst Internship Program

To encourage excellence amongst BCom students, Deutsche Bank sponsors an annual scholarship for full time Bachelor of Commerce students according to the following terms:

1. The scholarship is valued at $6000.

2. The scholarship is open to full time Bachelor of Commerce students undertaking their penultimate year of study. Combined degree students are also eligible but must be in their penultimate year of the degree (the Commerce component may already be completed).

3. The scholarship is for a tenure of one year, is conditional on full time enrolment in the Bachelor of Commerce (or combined degree), and is payable in two instalments: one upon award of the scholarship and the other in the final year of study.

4. The scholarship shall be awarded by the Faculty of Business and Economics, on recommendation of the Dean, after consultation with Deutsche Bank. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview.

5. Selection is based primarily on the basis of academic merit however the committee will take into account extra curricular activities, interpersonal skills and qualities which offer evidence that applicants have a genuine interest in the investment banking industry.

Wilfred Prest Travelling Fellowship – Applications now open

TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP

 

Notice to all students or graduates who will be undertaking postgraduate studies at an overseas university or research institution.

Available through the generosity of Mrs Marjorie Prest, and funded by the Wilfred Prest Fund, the Wilfred Prest Travelling Fellowship is available annually according to the following terms:

 

1. The Fellowship is valued at $11,100 in 2012/2013.

2. The Fellowship is open to students or graduates of the University of Melbourne who will be undertaking postgraduate studies in the field of Economics at an overseas university or research institution within the period between July 2012 and June 2013.

3. Applicants must be completing a degree specialising in Economics at the University in 2012 (Bachelor, Honours, Master or PhD), or be an Economics graduate of the University.

4. The applicant can be of no more than 27 years of age at the time of award.

5. The tenure of the scholarship is for one year, and is payable in two instalments upon confirmation of acceptance and enrolment at the nominated overseas institution.

6. An extension of the Fellowship may be granted for a further term of one year, on the recommendation of the selection committee.

7. The Fellowship may be held concurrently with another award.
