Winners are brought to the UA Summit 2013: an exclusive three day networking event in Dublin. 

Winners and shortlisted students are recognised as the best and most innovative in their field which can be a significant catalyst when pursuing further studies or their chosen career.

If you’re planning to submit your best undergraduate coursework to the 2013 programme, make sure you follow this handy action list:

1. Places are limited! To reserve your space in the competition register here.

2. Review the submission guidelines to ensure you’re on the right track.

3. Write a 100 – 300 word abstract to accompany your submission.

4. Fill out the submission form by May 24th. You can submit up to 3 different papers/projects.

The Paterson Scholarship

The Paterson scholarship is open to Australian citizens, who are enrolled in the first year of the Bachelor of Environments, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Biomedicine, or the Bachelor of Commerce, and are undertaking an engineering major or breadth sequence, leading to the Master of Engineering. Applicants must state that they wish to pursue a career in engineering in their application.

Students are required to meet two or more of the following criteria in order of priority:

  1. Financial need — as determined by information provided by the applicant
  2. Disadvantage — as defined by the University’s Access Melbourne Scheme
  3. Academic merit — as determined by the student’s results in the final year of secondary school.

The scholarship is awarded annually and valued at approximately $4,000 per year for the duration of the undergraduate degree and subsequent Master of Engineering in which the recipient may enrol. The Master of Engineering must be taken immediately after completion of the recipient’s undergraduate degree.

Cultural & Community Grants on offer

The third round of applications for 2012 closes at 5.00pm on Tuesday 16 October 2012.

The University of Melbourne sets aside special funding each year for University-level cultural and community activities, available for use by students and staff through grant applications.

The CCRAG is an advisory group to the Vice-Chancellor on cultural and community relations matters, and makes recommendations for funding for University cultural and community activities and events. Funds are available to individuals and groups within the University and its community for projects of University-wide or broader public interest.

Activities assisted in 2012 included conferences, exhibitions, athletic events, lunch time concerts, student theatre, community forums and student debating competitions.
